Coaches

Welcome to another exciting soccer season and thank you for your interest in volunteering to coach! Our success is largely due to those of you, who volunteer your time and energy to make this a great program where kids can have fun and learn about soccer!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Team rosters – please do not move kids from one team to another – lots of time went into making these teams
  • Coaches are responsible for contacting the parents on their team and communicating game and practice schedules.
  • Remind parents this is not the world cup. The goal is for all kids to have fun and enjoy soccer. Only positive comments from coaches, spectators and kids is expected.
  • Please follow the Slaughter/Sportsmanship Rule as outlined in the ESC Outdoor Rules.
  • Referees – most referees are just kids who also enjoy soccer. No abuse of referees by the coaches, kids or spectators will be tolerated
  • Medical release forms – please have them with you at every game and practice
  • Weather conditions – call ESC office for field closures – if the fields are closed NO GAMES OR PRACTICES can be held
  • Game cancellations – games are not made up if cancellations occur for any reason.
  • After the game starts either the coaches or the referees can cancel games for safety reasons, i.e. lightening, field conditions, etc. Please follow the lightening rules stated in Rules of Soccer
  • Goal safety – please perform goal safety checks per the forms provided.
  • First aid kits were distributed to each coach – spare kits are in the lock boxes at each field
  • All players must wear shin guards under their soccer socks to all games and practices
  • All players must wear the reversible blue/white Ela uniform. Additional uniforms are available by contacting the ESC Office.
  • Soccer cleats are recommended but not mandatory for U7-U19
  • NO JEWELRY OF ANY KIND – including but not limited to watches, necklaces, and earrings – including starters
  • Only safety glasses may be worn at games and practices
Coach’s clinics will be available – please make every effort to attend – they are for your, and the kids, benefit
  • ESC also offers additional skills classes for players; please encourage your players to attend.
  • When in doubt, ESC follows USSF soccer rules unless otherwise indicated.
